The guide price covers a typical single-phase home install — off-street parking, charger within about 10 m, one unit. Anything outside that is surveyed and quoted separately, not forced through the Standard Installation figure.

Questions about home EV charging?
- What’s actually included in the £1080, and what could push the price up?
- From £1080 for Ohme Standard Installation, including the charger and schematic scope. Tesla Wall Connector from £1200 and Eaton Green Motion from £1600. Longer cable runs, three-phase, V2G, solar-integrated charging and multi-charger setups are surveyed and quoted separately.
- Can I save VAT on an EV charger install?
- Yes — save 20% VAT on EV charger installed prices when the charger is installed with a qualifying 0% VAT install: Solar PV, battery storage, or ASHP (air-to-air and air-to-water). Standalone EV charger installs are shown including standard VAT.
- What’s the difference between tethered and untethered?
- Tethered chargers come with the cable built in — plug straight in. Untethered chargers let you use your car’s own cable. Either works with a Standard Installation.
- AC or DC charging — which one am I getting?
- Standard home installs use AC at 7.4kW — the type almost every home charger uses. DC is a different, higher-power product, more relevant to fleets or specific larger-home setups.
- How long does installation actually take, start to finish?
- For Standard Installation we confirm fit with Current first. For any non-standard install, leave your enquiry with Current for a team to contact you. Existing customers needing assistance should contact us via the Customer Portal.
- How many hours does it actually take to charge my car overnight?
- A 7.4kW charger typically adds about 25–30 miles of range per hour — a full charge overnight covers most daily driving.
