Your battery doesn't just store your solar. It trades the grid on your behalf.
Storage does two jobs, not one:
- Shifts your own solar from midday, when you don't need it, to evening, when you do — so less of what you generate gets sold cheap and bought back expensive.
- Arbitrages the grid — charges at rock-bottom off-peak rates, then either covers your peak-time use (avoiding the priciest hours) or exports the surplus back at peak rates for payment — whichever earns more on the day.
