What multi-split means
A multi-split connects two or more indoor units to one outdoor heat pump. Each room can have a different compatible indoor range and its own temperature setting. The outdoor unit shares its available capacity across rooms, so the exact size combination matters.

Reduce the number of outdoor units and plan spare connections only where the published combination permits.
Set rooms independently, while all connected units remain in the same overall heating or cooling mode.
Standard multi-split or Multi+
Rooms only
Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric outdoor equipment serving compatible room units for heating, cooling and dry mode.
Two to six rooms on one outdoor unit, depending on the selected range and exact combination.
Rooms and hot water
A distinct Daikin outdoor system that serves compatible room units and a 120 or 230 litre domestic hot-water tank.
Up to three or four room units depending on the outdoor model. It is not a conventional multi-split with a tank added later.
